The other day, I asked about black girls wearing pink tights. I understand that pink tights and a black leotard is the the required uniform at most ballet schools and that it is tradition to wear pink tights. This has been the standard for a long time. I’m proposing that the standard be changed. Black ballerinas shouldn’t be forced to wear pink tights because pink tights were originally worn to complement the skin of caucasian dancers. Therefore, black dancers should have the option of wearing darker tights that the feel better complement their skin.
